Board-Certified Gastroenterologist in Philadelphia, PA

A native of northern New Jersey, Dr. Sher graduated from Haverford College, where he majored in molecular biology. He attended medical school at Case Western Reserve School of Medicine in Cleveland, OH. After completing his internship and residency in Internal Medicine and International Health at Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland, he returned to Philadelphia for his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Temple University Hospital.

Dr. Sher is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine at Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University. He is affiliated with Albert Einstein Medical Centers at Philadelphia and Elkins Park, Jeanes Hospital, and Kindred Hospital of Philadelphia. He has been on the Medical Staff Board of Einstein Medical Center for many years. He also serves on the Ethics Committee and has been the treasurer at Kindred Hospital, Philadelphia. Dr Sher is an active member of several professional societies including The American College of Physicians, The American Gastroenterological Association, The American College of Gastroenterology and The American College of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.

Dr. Sher has the prestigious honor of being named by his peers as a Philadelphia “Top Doctor” in Gastroenterology for the past 5 years.

Dr. Sher’s medical training has taken him to both Southeast Asia and East Africa. He specializes in advanced endoscopic therapy and currently teaches in the Gastroenterology Fellowship Program at Einstein Medical Center.

He lives in Philadelphia with his family and enjoys travel as well as outdoor activities such as biking, running, and hiking.
